The Aim Of Child Sponsorship Program (CSP)
CSP is targeting 600 vulnerable children in Myanzi, Bukuya, Kassanda and Kiganda to be sponsored over the next ten years. 160 vulnerable children have already been selected and are hoping to receive sponsorships during the first round thus empowering these children from disadvantaged backgrounds with quality education, improvement of home and family life and the opportunity to become confident and motivated to find good paying jobs.
CSP aims to successfully collect sufficient data on children who need assistance. The children to be sponsored will be chosen utilizing HVU's transparent record of efficiency, effectiveness and accountability.
Despite the government's effort to enable everyone to have access to education through the introduction of Universal Primary Education (UPE), many children in the area have been unable to continue their education because they can't afford school meals, uniforms and other required scholastic materials. Even at secondary level, although the government has introduced Universal Secondary Education (USE), most children, especially orphans and needy children are unable to go to school. Like their counterparts at the primary level, they can't afford the basic necessities of life much less the required scholastic supplies and school meals. Consequently, many if not most, have dropped out of school.
The Child Sponsorship Program was formed to care for these types of children and restore hope to their lives.
